Smile Dumb Question..

Hi all - I just got a 2001 VW New Beetle GLX. Quick question - does the GLX automatically come with the turbo engine? I see I have a 20V Turbo on the engine itself - but not sure if it's turbo. It's an automatic if that helps any. Thanks.

Yes I believe you have a 1.8t engine. I think the GLX is just a trim level. I'm guessing you have heated leather seats, sunroof, possibly a CD changer in the trunk. Check your back window. If it has a 4 inch separate section at the top it's a definite. Is it gas or diesel?

Okay - where would I find the seperator? Is it the rear spoiler? If so, I do have that. As far as I know, I have heated seats, replaced the monsoon radio with a JVC radio (mp3s, with hard-wired ipod, no cd changer, etc. So far I love the car. I bought it from a Ford Dealership who didn't know anything about VWs. Everyone tells me I got it for a steal. I'm now a proud owner of a VW Beetle!

Awesome. Yes the 'space' between the spoiler and the glass. if you look at a non 1.8t turbo you'll notice the difference fastest by looking for that gap.

You definitely have a great ride there.

Thank you. I've only had it for two weeks, only thing that I've noticed first-hand was the fog ligts were falling from the bumper, but the dealership fixed that, a few hail damage here and there on the roof of the car, which i manage to take 1k off the original price. I'll post some pics of it sometimes this weekend.

Built in Spoiler above the back glass=1.8T Turbo.
