Default 16 inch vs. 17 inch rims

I have a 1.8T 04 NB that came with the low profile tires on 17 inch rims. I am wanting to switch to 16 inch rims with higher profile tires. Would I notice a much smoother ride with the higher profile tires? Thanks for the help.

You'll notice a LITTLE smoother ride; if you keep the same model tires.

You may very well switch to a stiffer tire that could undo the difference though.

16 to 17 was a mild change. I believe 18 is much more defined when it comes to feeling the road surface.

if you want a smoother ride, buy a Cadillac. 17's look way better than 16s do on the beetle anyways.
