Default Disconnecting the MAF

I notice that my car is "sluggish" on the take-off and I think it might be the MAF. How do you disconnect it? I am scared of braking the connector. Is there a "trick"? at what RPM should I "feel" the turbo? How would one clean it? Is there a how-to somewhere?

You should "feel" the turbo around 3K. You will need a small flat head screw driver to unplug the MAF. This will DECREASE performance and will turn on the CEL. I think there is a MAF cleaning procedure on the vortex.

I just went out for a spin and turned off the traction control (not sure, but someone suggested it) and floored it. It was Sllllloooooooowwwwwww taking off until I hit like 4500 RPM then I could feel the turbo kick in. If it is a rolling start it is not so sluggish, but when I start from a dead stop, it is. Does this add any light?

if you unplug the MAF and the car runs like crap, then the MAF is good.

If you unplug the MAF and the car runs good or better than before, then the MAF is dying.

Clean it before you go to replace it
