It sounds a bit high, but the dealership means you're automatically screwed.

MAF's are a DIY replacement, so they killed you with that in terms of labor.

A new MAF from ECS tuning is $300, a reman is 169.

thanks, its my wifes car, iam used to workinn on my 86 gt mustang, or my 2002 f350 ford diesel truck, which i know how to most everything, but her car sits so low and all the little stuff under the hood it looks really hard to work on, i replaced the air filter once and it took me like half a hour to do, for the oil change i tried to get it up on my ramps and it would bottom out on the front bumper so i took it to jiffy lube, i hatet to i like to do it my self, i guess i need to get a manual or look on this site to learn more on these cars. you guys have been a big help, thanks so far. after the work they did her car runs great, new tranny, timming chain, water pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, any way it runs better then when she bought it 2 years ago, it just turned 75,000 miles uses no oil between changes, wish i could figure how to post pic of it, it is almost ammucalate cond. white black int. tinted windows, glx model.

I put a 2.0 MAF in my car. It cost $80 online, and took five minutes to replace.

Edit. That was in my jetta.

The APH engine can use a 2.0L MAF, which are less expensive. Of course, with anything that is remotely related to high-performance engines/cars, they carry a premium, even if it is the same part as a lower performance engine/car.

ECS sells the MAF for 2.0L cars for $90, give or take. Also, they list it as being compatible with the APH engine.
