1st -> 2nd @42MPH or 7000RPM
2nd -> 3rd @68MPH or 6400RPM 3rd -> 4th @95MPH or 6400RPM 4th -> 6th @137MPH or 6500RPM Uh uh, this is not for the Turbo S, the redline and shift points are different. Redline is 6500rpm and I know for a fact that my S redlined at 58mph in 2nd gear, it's been a topic of conversation, since u lose time in the 0-60 time, cuz u hafta shift.

This information very useful. Thanks to author. One thing I found in actual use is that generally, shifting through the gears at nominal speeds, shows a rpm drop of about 500 between all gears. Chart shows a 1000 rpm drop from 1st to 2d, tapering off to 500 rpm 5th to 6th. An engine on a dyno could log this difference. In any event this is a very nice explaination of engine performance.
Thanks for posting. |

Thanks folks for all your replies. I am now getting 32mpg and the lady runs great. Around town I shift at or below 2000 rpm which seems to be fine and can always call on the turbo when needed. Conservative, yes, but the ninja cop has not been eyeing me either. Dying to take a long trip to wind her up.
