Angry Need some help w/headlights for Turbo S because of accident

I apologize in advance for the length of this post (i'm still really ticked!!!).

Sunday evening I was LUCKY enough to be involved in recieving ricochet asphalt from a stupid 1 wk licensed 16 yr old driver who lost control when she tried to cut across a major intersection with oncoming traffic and lost control. Asphalt smacked my windshield and left glass gouges (on the outside) spider webbing (on the inside). She also managed to smack my drivers side headlight. Although it's not broken - there's no way to know that it won't crack when the weather changes - there are some pretty deep gouges in the plastic and a long scratch/crack that I'm positive wasn't there before. To make the story even better, once she lost control she swerved 3/4 (this is where the asphalt came from) times and ended up about 5 feet off the ground on the side of the road on the embankment. When I doubled back to call the cops and make sure that the police report included my damage - the kid had the nerve to ask I would LIE to the police and say her mother was driving (my first sign that something was wrong). (NOTE: 5 people & 3 dogs got out of her GMC Jimmy - 1 of the passengers was her mother - none were hurt). I of course refused and said a few nasty words and walked away from her. They even asked my husband (who kept telling me NOT TO KILL HER - i LOVE my car) to help them push it off the embankment. THen asked whether or not I had called a tow truck for them (UH.. NO - I called the cops). While we were waiting for the cops to show up they kept standing over my car going... oh that's not too bad - It's not really damaged. UMMMMM EXCUSE ME???? It's my car and it was PERFECT before you decided to get on the road today!!!

So fast forward - I called my insurance company and have an appt set up to have the windshield replaced (along w/the tint strip). Since I have a $500 deductable - I decided to contact her insurance company regarding the headlight damage and the windshield (so that my insurance wouldn't have to pay for it). I got a very nice adjuster who took all the info and said he would contact the insured and call me back. I got a call yesterday afternoon saying that they're not positive that the daughter is covered - there is supposed to be paperwork adding her in the local office and they're faxing it to him - and it would be a few days before he would have a definete answer for me.

So now I sit here and stew -

My question is really (sorry for the ranting post - but wanted you to understand) - what headlights can I replace my 02 Turbo S Beetle with? I can buy new OEM from my local service place for around $250 each - or... I was looking at this pair on ebay (I like the black look of them - not necessarily the lights themselves - I've got a red/black theme going on the car). Will these fit?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=004

I know the turbo's front end is a little different that other beetles and I dont want to make a $300 mistake.... so any help/advice would be appreciated...

i dont think the shape of the lights are any different than the regular beetles, but the i do think the plugs are different.

I would get the OEM and make the rednecks in the GMC pay for everything.

The Turbo S has low wattage running lights in the headlamp assembly (parking brake up/engine off will show them). You could wire the top (LEDs?) if you went with the ebay lights to those, otherwise OEM is best.

Yikes! I am glad you are OK. You just never know what's gonna come out of nowhere, and try to take you out.

Good luck with those idiots.

Thanks for the help - I was wondering what the difference was between them - they all look basically the same. I found a set on ebay (OEM) for $100 cheaper than the local place I use - but am waiting to find out if they even had insurance - because that's now in question.

Turbo S bugs have what is called a city light, it's a small little light underneath the main halogen bulb. That's the only difference, but I would assume the are wired differently than a standard beetle head lamp because of the additional light.

WOOOHOOO (HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF) - Got a call today and the idiots DO have insurance - once the paperwork got to the home office - everything was sorted out and they are going to pay for my windshield and I have to let the adjuster look @ my headlights - then they will let me take it to the shop I normally use and put new shiney (NON-GOUGED) OEM in!!
thanks for the help everyone!!!

Glad you and your Bug are going to be OK. Not too concerned about the teenybopper driver and idiot parent...OR, their Jimmy.
But were the dogs OK???

What you saw is so typical of SUVs when the driver looses control. They over correct and get the thing on two wheels. Lucky they didn't up end the thing. Down here in Texas Hill Country, we get about three or four of these a month and the folks aren't so lucky as the end up t-boning a rock wall on I-10. SUVs should be banned!

Cheers!

Update - new windshield today & new headlights going in monday..... this afternoon I finally got around to putting in my clear side markers (a project that's been in the making for about 2 months...OMG THEY LOOK GOOD)....

the dogs were fine - a bit hyper from the toss around but all looked fine - the jimmy never actually flipped - it just ran up an embankment - everyone walked away from the accident

Those lights would be great. I'm not fond of the CC lights around the projector (Angel eyes) mostly because they won't last. If it was a ring of LEDs it would be better, and more reliable for the long term. Those "eyebrows" might be LED's, and I don't like them. They seem over-the-top, but I'd deal with them just for the side-by-side round lights! It's a great configuration!
Otherwise, I have these ones and they look almost stock, other than the insides being black:
