Default Sporadic hesitation when I stomp on it :(

OK, I fix one problem and another pops up Today on the way home I stomped on it. The car started hesitating. I think it's my fuel pump as I've heard a noise coming from the back area earlier today and yesterday. I thought it was interference thru the sub but now I'm thinking fuel pump thanks to a statement Katwoman made. Is this something I can fix myself or do I have to ask the other half? Where do I get a new one, dealer or somewhere else? And any hints to an easy replacement?

Holy crap. almost 300 bucks for the pump? And that's not even the dealer price, that was online at ECS tuning. Could it be a sending unit or something else? Please help me. Is this a trial & error type of thing?

I have a similar issue. Does your car feel faster when you squeeze the throttle half-way? This is what happens to my car. It also stumbles a little on occasion, like boost got dropped off for a split second. I think it may be because of one of these things:
Fuel filter
Broken/cracked hoses
Broken/cracked vaccum lines
Bad Diverter valve (DV)
Maybe even a bad BCV (what people are calling the N75)??
It could also be a host of other things causing the trouble. But right now it's blasted cold in New Hampshire, and I have no way of getting to a garage anytime soon to check these things out. Even a simple battery change was death-defying in 6 degree temps!

Don't assume it's the pump yet. Change the fuel filter out first, it may be restricting the fuel lines, causing the pump to work harder/putting it under more load/ making it louder.

Ok, I'll change the filter first. I assumed it was the pump since that's what I heard making a noise. I have only changed the filter once in 189k miles so it for sure could be that. Thanks

Ellen, be oh-so-careful with the clip that connects the fuel filter to the fuel line. Mine has been broken, and now I'll have to replace the whole line

That's a great tip. Sorry to hear you needed to do all that just for a blasted filter... UGH!

189K: There's alot more that it could be... after doing the filter, you might want to check all the hoses (vaccum and boost, plus secondary air injection, and make sure there are zero holes and cracks. And for pete's sake, do your timing belt right away!!

Timing belt was done after my car died on the highway along with quite alot of other work. See my car's thread (link in my sig). All vacumn hoses were replaced also. (note the blue color in a few engine pics).I just replaced the secondary intake hose two days ago. Now I will do the fuel filter. Thanks for the help anyway

Thanks Ewa, I think I'll have John do it as I have to get to my other job soon and don't want to smell like gas all night

Tell him not to get impatient with that clip. New fuel line is going to cost me $120 for just the clip It takes a lot of wiggling, and (if I remember the writeup correctly) the clip needs to be pushed in rather than pulled to release.

Now you tell me I left for work & he was still working on it. He did change it but it still hesitates. I think I should pour some cleaner in the tank & see if that helps. I really don't want to spend the 300 bucks on a pump

Sweet! Hopefully you can land one of them. 300 for the pump seems kind of out there. Maybe this could be the fix for you.

I'm gonna watch this thread because of similar probs with Wasabi.

How long have you driven Wasabi with this problem? I'm worried I'll get stranded out in a corn field on the way home from work

The CEL has only been on for about a week. But Wasabi doesn't get driven everyday. But I did make a 400 mile roadtrip with the CEL on and aside from that had no problems. Didn't really to effect the mileage either?

I don't have a CEL anymore. Once I put the new secondary intake hose on and cleared the PO411 code it hasn't come back on. I'm really getting tired of this. If it's not one thing it's another. I'm really close to going to the other side(the H word)

Well, I have a friken CEL again and it's the f ing PO411 again. I'm going to just cry. Nothing and I mean nothing is going right for me. I'll probably be out in the middle of no where when he decides to die on me. The hubby hasn't so much as looked at his own car let alone mine. WTF The car keeps hesitating when stomped on. Boost is holding and it's not in limp mode, almost feels like it but it's not. What should I look at now
