that's so fake. if he really was going that fast, the odometer would have been reading alot faster than that. and also it sounds like there's 0 wind noise for that speed. probably on jacks then too

I can't see the vid as I'm at work, but it occured to me that 140km/hr at 4000rpm sounds about right.

I was thinking that, too, but the odometer shows miles. Maybe someone swapped out clusters from metric to American (is there a better name for that measurement?) and the needle still moves the same...

I like that the left blinker was on most of the time. Makes me think it might be some 80 year old woman driving that thing.

it's not, it's an american cluster. 2.0 automatic cluster to be exact. and that's just impossible to do. maybe if there was a vr under the hood instead, but the fact that you can't hear any engine strain at all makes it 100% boooogussss. if they were smart, they probably played with thier vag settings to do that.

the rel question is, who is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WLpISCisVs

In their other two vids they are shooting the speedos and it looks real, alot of bouncing around and whatnot. And in one of them you get to see the bug do a short burnout. It spins the wheel pretty easy but it is very cold outside (snow on the ground) and I dought that they are running a limmited slip. Oh well just wondering if it was anybody on newbeetle.

Good question Toad. I liked that video so that I put it in my sig. I hear it is some old guy who thinks his bug is fast. What a joke putting a bug on a dyno.

I agree with Toad, that just is not possible. My 2.0 was over
3k rpm when on cruise going down the interstate @ 80 mph. Plus the faster you go, the quicker that little needle jumps up there, but just 4? I don't think so...

The real question is... how are they doing that while turning left (notice the signal) and their trunk ajar? Me thinks something is rotten in the state of Denmark and they are tweaking things with a VAG-COM

Looks real to me, The trans down shifted then went back into 4th then lockup. Might be a built tdi with some tall gears or something.

Fake... I had a 2.0, it would probably blow up at 140 mph.

On the real side, do you know how long the tranny and differential gearing would need to be and how ridiculously high the horse-power/torque output would have to be in order to get that car setup moving to 140MPH at 4000RPM in a reasonable time frame (rhetorical), this can be done maybe in a Cuda with a blown 440 CID or a blown 426Hemi with a custom driveline etc.

Someone maka da biga joke...

It’s fake already!! He’s going about 85 mph - it takes about 17 seconds to do 0.4 miles.

isn't the spoiler light on?? how could it be a 2.0? And who would waste the time to make a fake speeding vid anyway? Good job to the wizards behind this masterpiece

That is not a spoiler light. It is the rear hatch open (or ajar) warning light.

Is it possible that they messed with the speedo sender. I know in Mustang transmissions you have to change out the speedo sender gear when you change the wheel size or gear ratios... Maybe they did something similar and got it wrong.

What I was saying is that possibly they swapped clusters. If this is a Metric Bug but they put in a US cluster, the signal would come in from the ECU to move a metric speedo, and with one from the US it might move to different numbers. That's the best I could figure.
