Angry The curse of the bad low beam headlight

Hey everyone, just wanted to through this situation out there to see if anybody else had the same problem.

Well, my passenger low beam light went out about 2 months ago, and it still hasn't been fixed. I tried the bulbs, fuse, new harness, new headlight assembly, and just finally broke down and took it to the local VW dealrship. They were the ones who told me it needed a new harness, since the wires were exposed on the old one. So I bought the harness, put it in, and still no low beam. It was a pretty straight forward installation, so I really don't think I could have screwed it up in any way (and no, I did not touch the bulbs with my bare hands ) So now, V dub wants to charge me another $100 for diagnostics. I kind of have to now, since my inspection sticker is expired and waiting on this headlight.

Has anybody else had to deal with this? What should I do? Any help/insight would be very very very much appreciated. This has been a major pain in the a$$.

Best,

Joshua

I would take it back to that dealer and ask them to diagnose for free since their last diagnosis was incorrect. If they give you problems I would make sure they knew you were going to call VWoA & tell them about your bad experience at that dealer. Start out nice. If things don't go your way just be firm not b!tchy. They might decide to help.

I hear that. But they are trying to throw it back at me that since I didn't have them do the simple task of putting in the harness (which I did myself,) they have to check out my installation work - plus run further diagnostics. They should, if they were a decent operation, tell me "hmm, well, bring it in and we will take another look at it for you - sorry to hear about that. A customer that just spent $400 with us is worth the consideration."

You are going to learn quick that the "stealership" can be just that. Like the previous poster said, bring it in and play nice. Have your paperwork ready for if it doesn't go well, and use it as proof positive that they diagnosed it b4 and you did what they told you to, plus bought stuff from them.
does any1 have the schematics for the headlight switch/relay(s)? It could be as simple as a quick switch replacement, depending if the switch has two pole for headlights. I just don't know...

Thanks for the post! I am thinking it just might have something to do with the switch. I am going back to the stealership tomorrow, with the said gameplan in mind. I will update... Thanks again for the posts guys, I really appreciate it!

No problem.
I don't really see how it could be the switch. If the problem were at that point, I would think that both lights would either work or not work. I could very well be mistaken though.
Can anyone clarify this for Joshuah?
