Default Turbo timer; yes or no?

Is it wise to add a turbo timer or not? If so which one is the best one? Best meaning not the most expensive or the cheapest; just the one to get the job done. I thank everyone for their help and honest opinions.

If you're stock; it's unnecessary.

If you plan on going big turbo I'd make it a necessity.

If you're pushing the stock turbo to near it's limits, I'd recommend it.

If you do a chip and some suspension mods; I wouldn't recommend it. (But it's NEVER a bad idea; just somewhat unnecessary.)

If you're not going to run a timer, then just 'be easy' on it for the last minute or so before you shut down. Don't come off the interstate after some high-reving crazy stuff and shut it down right away. Maybe light throttle up the off ramp; cruise down the last couple residential streets; etc etc.

Just ease off for a minute or two and the timer's unnecessary (you have an after-run electric coolant pump after all).

Just drive the last 2 miles boostless and you'll be fine. Your stock water pump will still run and cool down after turning off for approx. 10 minutes.

It does NOT pump oil through the turbo which is the benefit of a turbo timer but imho if you just care about your car and let it cool down before turning off forget about a really complex turbo timer install (wiring with your ecu and immobilizer is a pita!).

i know plenty of BT guys that dont have one.. just let the engine idle for a minute or two before you cut it off (or drive easily)

the afterrun coolant pump is not the issue really. you want to keep the oil flowing until the turbo has time to cool off so it doesnt sit inside the turbo and burn up. too bad they didnt add in an after-run electric oil pump...

Yep, but no one said you can't.

Oh and if your door chime still works, it chimes for exactly 1 minute when you open the door w/the key in the ignition. (if you need something to tell you you've been sitting & idling for 1minute)
