Hey Guys.. I have only had my car for about 2 weeks, I've only filled it up once. I'm wondering what kind of gas mileage you are all getting.

In NJ, we can't pump our own gas.. so after I got gas, I realized that it wasn't completely full.. it wasn't all the way to the Full line but I told him to fill it up and the pump stopped when it got "full". I'm at nearly 1/4 of a tank right now and I've only gotten about 290 miles.

So I'm wondering, is that about right or is the gauge off?

Thanks!

WHOA!!! 290 miles!!!! And you have a 1/4 tank left????
Do you live in an extremely flat area with the wind behind you all the time?
I get about 25-27 average. I don't baby it, but I don't race around all the time either.

So that's good? lol

I got around 400 miles on a full tank in my '06 GL

I live in NJ, stop and go traffic and I do play around in the car.

I get about 300 miles per tank, maybe 350? Avg about 25-27mpg.

The gauge isn't linear so 1/4 of a tank is really "almowt empty" and 3/4 of a tank is actually about the half way point. Man what a quirk to get used to.

yuh. So is the reasoning behind why you aren't legally allowed to fill your own fuel tank.

You can't fill your own tank?

I get around 100 miles per quarter tank, so you are running about average I think.

Sorry.. I said 290 but it's at 230. So I guess I'm in the average.

Just weird that I got around 400 with the GL.. Turbo really does suck the gas more, huh?

I believe that is (or was) the law in Oregon also. Ask Debbie about that, I suppose...

We could get a ticket if we try to pump our own gas. I would rather pump my own gas because there has been times when I tell them what kind of gas I want in my car and they push the wrong button and I have to yell at them..

It stinks when I go through NJ on the turnpike. I have to go from pumping my own, to having some guy treat me like a criminal for touching the pump handle.

What special qualifications does one need to be a pump jockey in NJ? Mob connections? Take a civil service test? Do you have to pay full service rates for this fuel? I'm not gonna go back to NJ now...

The gas is cheaper here than if you go to PA.. And it is nice not to pump my own gas when it's freezing or raining outside!

I'm getting 31.5 on my last three fill-ups on my 1.8T 5-speed...I let the trip odometer for a tank full reach 448 one time when I wasn't paying attention. I got a little worried that time.
Of course that's using 93 octane. When I first got mine and didn't realize that the engine was designed for premium I used regular 87 octane and got 28.5 mpg.

Aphid is a chipped 1.8T with automatic, and except for one rogue tank of 34, coming downhill out of the NC mountains, we usually see 23-25.

As for New Jersey and not allowing self service pumps......that must be something the mafia pushed through the legislature. The last time I was in the Garden State, the dimwits operating the pumps were not more qualified to do so that anyone driving a car.

You'd be hard pressed to find anything but a self service pump in most places in Georgia.

How did chipping affect your hp and mpg? I've been considering it...What chip did you get?
Thanks.

Yelojkt has 153,600 miles on him give or take a few miles and I average 23.5 mpg. That is running with a K04 and Upsolute software that still is not right. Plus I run 235/40/18 tires.

I have 1.8t automatic with GIAC X+. I get 21-22 mpg and that is 90% on highway 70-75 mph. That's also with the code P1297.

I avoid to fill the gas in NJ when I drive to NYC because of they put the wrong octane to my car before. Put the wrong octane and leave my car to another.
