Default AWV and AWP

I just wanna know that are there only 24 AWV Engines? If so, anyone knows why What is engine code in newer 1.8T engine? I know Turbo S is AWP. Is 2003up 1.8T also AWP?

"24 AWV Engines"? I don't get the question...

All 1.8T engines from 2001.5 and on are AWV, conservatively rated at 150hp. The only exception is the Turbo S which has the 180hp AWP, as you stated.

APH = 150 hp 1.8T 1999 - 2001
AWV = 150 hp 1.8T 2001(all Sports and a few GLXes) - 2006
AWP = 180 hp 1.8T Turbo S only

APH + chip = 185 hp
AWV or AWP + chip = 215 hp

Not sure about the 24 reference, but Aphid dynoed at 134 whp before the chip, so taking into account 15% loss due to the automatic transmission, I'd agree that 150 hp is a conservative estimate.

So the engine is rated at 150 hp, on the dyno it put out 134? Transmission or not, it still put out less than 150. My TS put out 168 on a baseline dyno, when it was advertised at 180.

Also, i'd like to see the dyno sheets of any NB 1.8t putting out 215 whp with just a chip. Even APR and Revo's inflated whp numbers don't go higher than 207 and 209 whp.

The numbers VW advertises are at the crank, not the wheels. Therefore, the observation that 150 at the crank is a consevative estimate for an AWV makes sense.

APR lists 209 hp for the 91 octane program and 215 for the 93 octane program, but does not specify whether that's at the wheels or crank.

After Aphid was chipped, she dynoed 168 whp on a dyno on which everyone that day registered lower than anticipated numbers. In fact the only 1.8T that beat Aphid that day was an APRed GTI with a full APR exhaust and a top of the line CAI @ 182. Unless that dyno was that far off, it also makes sense to conclude APRs numbers are at the crank.

I hope this clarifies things.

AWV = 150 hp, AWP = 180 hp.
Why AWV or AWP + chip give the same hp?

Why AWV is on a few GLXes?
I saw FallinApartBoy details about the car AWV engine 1 In 24, so I'm just curious what it means?

Turbos S motor is already software tweaked from the factory that is why more HPs. But once you put a chip in it all equals out to same as they are same engines really. That is pretty much it simply put.

I have 2001 GLX with AWV motor and i know that not many GLXs have it. I have no idea why, though.

AWVs have a K03 Sport as well. The early APH motors did not.

FallinApartBoy's car is a special edition color, I think perhaps he is saying that only 24 of that special color were configured like his car is.

I don't think the K03s was introduced to the AWV until the 2003 MY.

Change during the 2001 model year. This turbo came along when the AWV replaced the APH.
