I think u misunderstood him, he meant APR sells both software AND hardware upgrades, such as exhaust systems, diverter valves, manifolds, etcetc. GIAC only sells software.

The program is flashed onto your existing ECU, so no additional hardware is required.

I believe TooCold has a GIAC chip, as well as several others.

Is GIAC the closest to you? I would just go to the closest one to you and the most knowledgeable and helpful.

Revo's got some killer adjustable programming. But if you want set-it and forget-it functionality, go w/ Giac.

imo they're both pretty awesome. Revo edges out a little in my book; but they don't do my motor either. So they lose points there.

The shop is willing to still install the GIAC chip, N75, forged DV for 600 out the door.

make sure you grab the one for the vr6 engnie, and not the ones for the 1.8t. They match up w/a lighter & better g60 flywheel. Check out fuel's clutch thread.

i use

why would use vr6 flywheel and clutch on my TS?

Edit: I read through the tread. So using the stage II for the vr6 is cheaper?

I completely agree with post #16 of this thread.

The fact that GIAC does not sell exhaust systems and other hard part upgrades has absolutely nothing to do with the validity of their software products.

GIAC currently has the largest selection of the most trouble free, highest performing, drivetrain safe software.

GIAC was researching, producing performance software and furthering the R&D process on improved products for the New Beetle, New Beetle (APH) and many other model/brand vehicles back many years ago when APR would shine me on every time I called them about Beetle software, they always told me that they were too busy with other projects and had no time for the Beetle, they were never at all helpful to me.

GIAC was the first to create virtually seamless K03, K04 and K04 (Large injector) performance software that properly interfaces with the more difficult APH type 1.8t system, it passes the smog sniff test and does not trigger a CEL.

GIAC has a lot to learn about customer relations... but they have been and currently are the most innovative, accurate and experienced performance software manufacturer at this point.

holy crap this thread is turning into a GIAC commercial

get whichever has a dealer closest to you that you trust with your vehicle. this will make it a lot easier to get updates if they come out and you will have someone local to help you if you need support.

the software programs dont differ all that much and with APR and Revo you can try before you buy. GIAC and Unitronic both offer 30-day money back guarantees. so either way you get some time to test out the programs and see what YOU like.

Well if that's the case, people can just get their software from the company that offers the least expensive chip and call it a day...

Getting chip'd tomorrow, that is if my tax return comes through and new tires. I'm pretty excited. I haven't really done anything to my car in a few years, I can't wait. I got a nice long drive to Jacksonville tomorrow, so i'll be able to check everything out.

I had a OEM clutch that lasted from 30K to 100K chipped with no problems...

So, Friday came and went and I'm still not chipped. Took it to the shop, and for some reason he couldn't flash my ecu. GIAC said that he was going to have to do a bench flash. Basically he is going to have to remove my ECU, and flash it that way. I am going next saturday to get it done. Hopefully, I will be joining the 15+ PSI club next weekend.
