Coils, again
I see some folks mention a recall for coil replacement in cars manufactured around 2000 but I can't find any information about it. ECS Tuning recommends replacing them with an E upgrade or an R upgrade anyway. What's up with that? Then there is the replace-them-when-they-fail camp. I had one fail but the codes thrown then included a multiple-cylinder-misfire so I think I have another one going. They will probably all fail soon. Can they slowly start to degrade before complete failure?

if it's a recall you're concerned about, call VW of America (numbers in your manual), and have your VIN handy. they will tell you what recalls apply to you. The dealership may also do that for you, but as well all know, dealing with dealers is hit or miss.
