Default Temperature & Oil Pressure Lights

I have developed a problem with my 2002 1.8 turbo beetle. It started with the temperature light coming on solid blue even after the car was warmed up. It then progressed with the oil pressure light coming on at idle when the temperature light was on. I took it to the dealer and they could find no codes for the problem. They found the antifreeze mixture was wrong and claimed that was causing the light to come on. They had to correct that for free, since I had the antifreeze changed at the dealer. They said the oil pressure light coming on could be caused by sludge buildup. I told them I had used Mobil One on every 5000 mile oil change and also used Volkswagen oil filters. They said the engine could still sludge up, so they did a $300 engine flush. I was driving the car tonight and the problem is still there. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be with this thing?

at this time, is your coolant expansion tank level somewhere between the min and max marks?

I'm thinking 'thermostat' - but I'm no expert on the 1.8 - maybe some of them will pipe up
