Default air pump filter?

alright, i put a eurosport intake on my TS and had to rig a filter on the airpump hose untill i could source one that fits. well went to check it after driving down a dusty ass road and the filter is gone! what does the air pump feed? how bad is it to drive the car without the air pump hose having a filter?? did i just screw my motor?? help me!

ps. also if you could list a K&N style filter i can put on the air pump hose i would greatly apreciate it.

Matt

no real biggie dude, you're fine, for a temp fix put a rag over it and clamp it down. Pick up a small filter from somewhere (like the one in the pic) someone may know the size, mine came with my 57i kit. but when you attach it just make sure it's clamped down really tight.

check the 'riced out shiney-things' aisle at your local parts shop. I found them in red and blue; it fit the piece of the eurosport intake just great.

I don't know the size; but the one I found actually fit inside the cylinder that was attached to the intake.

If you are referring to the filter for the SAIP, it is very important to make sure that there is a filter on that hose -always-, this pump sucks air in from the outside and sends it into the engine.

Contrary to the understanding of most people, the SAIP does not just turn on durning cold starts, it can turn on seconds after the engine is started anywhere up to about 90F, it all depends on conditions and it's operation is ultimately determined by the ECU.

You really don't want debris to find it's way into the SAIP's intake hose which could possibly damaging the pump ($400, you definitely don't want contaminants being pumped into the engine as this could really put the Smack-Down ones bank account...

U only really need to oil it if you drive on dusty roads a lot. I'd oil it, but I don't like the red color of the oil they give you.

It's a personal choice but I would suggest oiling both filters after a cleaning, although I would think it to be obvious the danger of large debris getting past either filter, very small presents an equally potential problem, either can take out a pump or an engine.

I oil both filters regardless of dust levels, if one lives where dust is low, well this just means more time can pass between service intervals.

I buy the largest pump spray bottle of K&N cleaner/oil spray can from Summit Racing, the price is good and the quantity lasts along time.
