Default ABS ground fault

The last time I ran my Vag-Com I pulled a soft code indicating a hardware failure from my left front wheel sensor. I have recently changed out my steering knuckles along wtih hub assemblies, and speed sensors in an effort to get my ABS light to turn off. It finally did and now it goes on and off every couple of days. The best I can figure is that there is a little signal degradation at the main harness to the ABS control module. I had a local shop pull the hard codes that the Vag Com doesn't show... and the hard code indicated a ground fault in the ABS system... So I pulled the main harness from the ABS Module and looked at it... it looked clean... as did both front wheel sensor plugs. When I started the car back up and reached 13 miles an hour the ABS light kicked back on... then after driving a few miles it went back off...Then back on after a few more... weird.

My car has no belly pans, so there may be some moisture interfering. I haven't seen any broken wire.. but i have not checked the wiring with my ohm meter either..

Any one have any suggestions?

Should I use some kind of spray dielectric grease in the pluggs?

Thanks, in advance.

JC

My ABS system seems to be working on a daily basis... but faults and cuts out if I make a sharp letf turn... like into a parking place. After a fault, I have been killing my engine while I am still in motion, then turning the key back to the on position and dropping back into gear to start back up... that seems to re activate my ABS system, but it is a pain in the ...

Should I replace the driver side front harness? can I splice into it, or is it dependent on a certain amount of resistance requiring replacement all the way to the control unit?

thanks,

JC

I wish I knew the answer; but I don't really get automotive electrics yet.

Good luck; seems like if you could find the wire that's failing you should just be able to splice past the faulty part.... But that's probably pretty hard to locate.

I hope so... my local dealership service manager said that I could spllice into the speed sensor sending cables anywhere along the line... they were not dependent on a specific amount of resistance... I hope that is the case.
