Beetle Starts and Dies

I have a 2002 Beetle that starts and dies has good fuel pressure 40-50 psi. Has spark when it starts, then that goes away and it dies.

are the plugs burnt? do you lose spark on all 4 cyl or just one or two?

All plugs lose spark.

hmm, do you have an inductive voltmeter? does it mis and then die or just quit?

My 02' used to do that also. I changed the Temp sensor to a green one and It never did that again. Immobilizer will do that too, IF your using a different key than normal. good luck.

When you start it will rev to 2k if you throttle up then dies like you turned the key off. If you start without foot on the gas if starts and dies. I have a voltmeter don't think it's inductive.

ps the car has only 51k on it.

sounds like an immobilizer issue. Try unlocking the car from the outside lock or starting it with a different key.

i agree with green02, sounds like the immobilizer, getting the light on the dashboard that looks like a key?

Well, today's another day. Went to the car and got in the front seat. Pressed the "lock" button on the remote. The car started and ran fine. WTF? Pressed "unlock" and car started and ran fine. What did I do to fix it? Does the "immobilizer" mode allow the car to crank and start but then die? I'm so confused!
