what turbo do i need?

Hey guys. Looking for a new turbo since the one in my 00' 1.8nb crapped out. I will be getting rid of her soon so not interested in installing an OEM one. the cheaper the better. My question is, ive been looking on ebay for k03 turbos and ive found several for under $300. is there a diference between the ones in the bugs and jettas compared to the ones stated as fitting audis and passats? or is a k03 a k03 no matter what. any help would be greatly appreciated. also if you know someone trying to get rid of a used one pleasseeee direct them to me! thanks

The gof/jetta/beetle use a differnt KO3 than the Passat/Audi (engine orientation different). If you want to go even cheaper, you can get a center section only and reuse parts of your turbo. I'm still not convinced that these knock-off turbos are any good, but I'll find out shortly. The owner of the 1.8T passat sitting in my driveway just placed an order for one.

There is a difference between the K03 and the K03s ... look at that.

Does a 00 1.8t take a ko3 or ko3s? how do i know which one?

The 00 uses a KO3. The KO3s would be a slight upgrade to the stock set-up.

Look in the classifieds on vwvortex.com from a jetta or golf. Cheap money used... $300 tops! And it will be a real K03. Buy only from someone who cares about their reputation there otherwise you will get junk, or nothing.
