Angry Throttle Body Clicking - Please Help Me

I have a 2001 beetle and it is giving me fits. Each time I try to start it the throttle body makes a clicking noise then the EPC light stays on and i have no power. I found a throttle body on ebay and it acts the same way. Any ideas what it could be. Could the battery be bad and the throttle body not geting the juice it needs? It is really frustrating me. Any help would be wonderful.

Try turning the car to the on position and press and hold the accelerator down for about 5 sec, repeat the process about 3 times. Turn the car off then try to start it. *this works with some models*

Jackfrost, I've not had it scanned yet. We recently went through an ice storm about a week ago and just got power. But I've got to get it to my guy first, but it won't start. And the clicking is when it is off.

how long does it click for a few seconds? almost sounds like the fuel pump went?

do you hear a hum when you open the door? like 1 or 2 seconds worth?

It is just a quick click. I've had someone turn the key on and I've been under the hood and it is coming from the throttle body. The fuel pump works OK when I open the door. I actually purchase the scan tool and just scanned it below is the result of the scan. Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks

Wayne

Try turning the key to the on position (without starting the car), in the VCDS go to 04 Engine and select basic settings. Select block 60 (if I remember right) and wait. This should start the throttle body adaption test. the result needs to be ADP OK.

Remember when you clear a code it resets the readiness codes.

With yours as 0110 1101 the following (1) have not ran or failed or (0) has passed:
0 - EGR
1 - O2 heaters
1 - O2 sensors
0 - A/C (R12) should always be 0
1 - SAI system
1 - Evap (fuel tank vent system)
0 - Cat heating (always 0)
1 - Three way cat efficiency

NBTurboFreak, I ran the test and the first time I ran it it was OK, I ran it again and it failed, then ran it again and it worked. Where do I go from here? The VagCom is new to me and I'm a bit scared to mess something up. Any assistance it greatly appreciated.

Thanks
