Default Installed a catch can on my APH

Car is down due to fans that are not turning on due to a faulty thermo switch on the radiator, while I'm waiting for the part from ECS Tuning, decided to install a catch can and cleaned out the intercooler...

Installed a catch can for my PCV system on the APH, does not eliminate the connection going to the intake manifold, but it will keep all the oil vapors from dirtying and otherwise contaminating the intercooler and piping.

Catch can installed on APH engine

Location of catch can which is bolted to passenger side engine mount (The worm clamp is holding onto a 5" long piece of door hinge that holds the bottom of the can to a spare stud on the engine mount)

Instead of feeding unfiltered oil vapors into the TIP, the vapors are routed to the catch can, and then back to the circulation valve on the TIP. (Note: The APH only has one fitting that connects the PCV system to the TIP, so I got lucky. I've seen quite a few 1.8T setups that have 2 fittings going into the TIP, obviously those applications would require BOTH fittings be routed to the catch can before they enter the TIP.)

FYI: The clear tubing is 3/8" vinyl tubing from Menards, rubber is better, but for the test run, I want to make sure the oil vapors are making it to the catch can instead of remaining stagnant in the tubing. The connections from the PCV to the recirculation valve on the TIP have a 20mm or ~3/4" inner diameter. I couldn't find anything locally that would neck the 3/4" ID to 3/8" to match the catch can, so I used a 3/8" barbed adapter with a threaded 1/2" fitting that fit perfectly inside the 3/4" inner diameter stock tubing.

So what prompted you to build the "contaminate catch"?

The amount of oil I've been finding in the intercooler hosing everytime I have to pop them off, always dripping and such.. Plus I just cleaned out the intercooler on my turbo Nissan and got back a lot of engine response, I wondered if there was any to be had with the beetle.
