suggestions please
Hello,
Currently own a 2002 2.0 beetle and am looking at a 2001 1.8 Turbo thats for sale in my area. Can you guys and gals give me some pointers as far as what to look for on the Turbo Beetle before I make the purchase. (known maint issues, problems ,etc) Thanks!

Timing belt & water pump.
window regulator fuel door cable secondary air pump hoses maf I'm sure there's more & others will chime in. I have 230k & am just changing the clutch for the first time. I've had problems but overall am very happy with my 2001.Good luck!

check for leaks on drivers side of engine, the color of the cooland should be a bright red, and turbo spooling.youll be able to hear a whistle. ask the owner if has had the castrol syntec oil put in. and get the records.will help down the road if it sludges.
