Default Camshaft Position Sensor P0340 code

Ok, I replaced my AWV cylinder head on my 2001, I got it running, replaced a defective coil, drove it and it started rattling, dropped the oil pan (no sludge), replaced the partially restricted pickup tube, reassembled, drove it and it started rattling again, replaced the cam chain tensioner and (whew!) the rattle was gone. Unfortunately I'm still getting a P0340 cam position sensor circuit defective code.

I replaced the sensor because the resistance seemed high, but still get the P0340 code. My question is, does this code definitely indicate a electrical circuit problem, or could it set when cam timing (timing belt or cam chain) is slightly off? I was pretty careful to get the chain and timing belt installed correctly, but I'd like to know if this is still a possibility.

This car's driving me nuts, any input would be appreciated!

Yeah, timing belt was off a tooth, now the code seems to be gone.
