Is a 2002 NB-TS 1.8T 6-speed transmission difficult to rebuild..? I rebuilt the transmission on my old Suzuki Quadracer 500 when I was 19, and to be honest I don't think the tranny on my Noob is much bigger than that...
I ask because my Noob is starting to make audible "clack" noises when I shift, and it's been fussy about going into reverse when it's cold for about a year now. And sometimes when I shift into 2nd gear from 1st or 3rd, the synchronizers don't quite make it and I end up grinding the gears a little.
I'm not sure if the transmission oil needs changing, or perhaps the shifter linkages are worn out. I used to have a '91 Dodge Shadow Turbo that had a grumpy 2nd gear, and after a while the synchronizers kinda exploded and I had to learn double-shift to get it in 2nd gear. I'd like to avoid that on this car if possible, since it's kinda nice & stuff. =-)
I'm going to be doing a clutch, struts, engine mounts, and a bunch of other things in the front soon, so I figure while I'm doing that, I might as well consider a tranny rebuild if it's not to crazy of an idea.
Thanks.
