Unhappy I am losing oil, and I smell it when the car is running.

Hey guys

Recently, I checked the oil level in my 01'GLX to find it VERY low. I don't think I have a leak, since I can't find any oil spots in the garage, or anywhere I park for that matter. But I do notice there is a pool of oil around the oil cap, and it looks like it is spilling out from the gasket underneath the oil cap. Anyone else had a similar experience? Any other ideas of what can be wrong, and how I can fix it?

Thanks!

Have you done any mods to the car?
Is the gasket plump and flexible, or flat and brittle?
The obvious indication for the oil leak, is excessive pressure inside the motor. If the CCV valve is stuck closed, the pressure will build up until the oil if forced out.

No mods have been done to the car. Where can I find the CCV valve? I need to replace the hose that enters the engine from the right, its cracked. Could that be causing the excessive pressure?

Thanks

Could be burning it via the turbo if there is a bad seal, also there is an oil hose on the front of the head below the intake on the driver side (dont remember the name off-hand) that and leak oil under pressure if it starts failing.

Doing this from memory. The CCV is a black "hockey puck" located on top of the valve cover on the Right side. A short hose runs from there back to the intake. Oil can leak if it is cracked or loose. The CCV can be removed by pulling straight up. Use solvent to clean, then use compressed air to gently dry it. Be Careful as the insides are tender.
