Jon, do you remember what that part was that held up things on the 1.8T Timing Belt Kits...the part that you found the new supplier on?

We source parts from a few different suppliers (same brand), previously it was the tensioner holding things up but everything is currently showing either in stock or a 1-3 day ETA.

Jon, at least two of us have had major problems with seals purchased with our 1.8T timing belt kits form ECS.

I wound up having to spend a lot of extra money getting my cam seal replaced twice, once with yours and secondly with a OEM one from VW. The OEM cam seal is working fine.

BUT, the crank seal that came with the kit was completely defective. The second it went in the car it started leaking oil.

When I called ECS about a replacement, they told me "Too bad, you can't prove it. It's not our problem. Want to buy another?"

So, that kind of put a sour taste in my mouth because then I had to buy another seal (bought it elsewhere) and I had to pay to have it put in, and we looked at the defective one, and it was definitely a defect, not damaged in any way by the mechanic. ECS said that since we'd already installed it, it was my problem to deal with , no returns, no warranties, etc.

I think it's time to do a quality inspection regarding your seals.

The cam seals can be very tricky to install and following the instructions is a must for them not to leak after being replaced.

Installation tips:

- Surfaces must be clean & completely dry
- Do NOT use any oil or grease on sealing surface
- To ensure proper seal motor should not be operated for at least 4 hours after installation. This is to allow the PTFE sealing lip to be evenly positioned around the shaft.

That price seems a little high to me ECS, I ordered mine thru a different supplier online and got it cheaper. I would think with the amount of buisness we can give you that you would do better on the price??

thanks
marc

We have quite a few different kits available, so I'm not sure exactly which one you are comparing. We have OE and OEM specific kits available and many of the kits offer free shipping to the lower 48 in the US.
