Default pls help: G28 Engine Speed Sensor: no signal

hi. got a 2000 Beetle 1.8T, APH with code P0322 (car stalled). tested sensor with multimeter: passed. cleared code, engine starts fine. i'm very worried that this could happen again (since the engine shuts off when it does). i'm about to replace the sensor. anybody else had this prob. what else could it be? is common for that sensor to fail intermittently? any help is appreciated.

There were a few posts on the old org about this same sensor - but the car died and wouldn't crank again if I remember correctly.

If its like other Crankshaft Position Sensors, it is just a Hall Effect magnet. So for it to go bad, it would probably be an electrical connection (either the connector where it plugs into the wire harness or where the wires attach to the magnet inside of the plastic housing). If it threw a code and you know it has a tight, corrosion-free connection, I'd just replace it.
