I have a 2002 Turbo S. Got a rattle on the passenger side of the motor that sounds like an accessory or pulley failing. I'd like to get it checked out. Thanks for any help.

I used European Motorsport in Nampa, Idaho. Turned out to be the alternator bearing, and there was also a worn tensioner. Had the alternator replaced with a rebuilt unit, got a new belt and tensioner. Total damage $565. They were communicative and seemed to know what they were talking about. Does the price seem in the ball park? Running smooth and great again. Gosh I like this car.

Idaho is pick-up and SUV country. We are among the few that appreciate nimbleness and fun. Very windy here yesterday and I was dodging tumbleweeds on the back-roads. Lot's more fun that plowing over them in a big Ford F-150. I just love the kick in the back-side when the turbo kicks in and the sage brush starts to blur out the side windows of my TS. Don't get the same experience in a big SUV that turns like a Cruise Ship ("we will begin our turn in 3, 2, 1, okay, right rudder!"). There are some Idahoans that haven't drank the SUV kool-aid. I once saw a Mazda Miata with a cowboy's saddle hanging out the open trunk.

TDIclub member and diesel guru Drivbiwire is in Boise. Diesels and Boeing 747's (he's a freight pilot and flies all over the world) are his passion, but I would hazard a guess that he would probably look at a sparky car too if he has time.
