Default Blue Coolant light + Timing Belt - Newbee

Hi, I am a newbee 2004 GLS 1.8T Convertible owner "My Daughter's car" I resisted on this quirkey vehicle but lost out. anyway, this is the second day of owning it and noticed that the blue coolant light came on, when she moved the car, so I drove it a 1/2 mile and it went off. I have read that this is normal? I live in AZ so it aint like it is very cold here. just checking / looking for advice, this is my first non-American car and boy is it different from my 67 Camaro and V8 Dodge truck. it has 57,000 miles on it. how much am I looking at for a Timing belt, tensioner and Water pump replacement? Thanks and the forum is a great place for information

Yes the blue coolant light will stay on until the car is warmed up. You need an owner's manual. If you're going to be doing any DIY, get a Bentley manual.

Where is the best place to get the Bentley manual, Never heard of it before. I am used to the Chilton and Haynes. Is it an on-line thing. Changed both headlamps, boy what a joy. the passenger side is easy, as far as the driver's side, Nice design. Noticed one fog lamp was un plugged "driver side" easy fix. as far as the passenger side (not working) WTF can't see a thing on that side, not sure about pulling apart the front grill. God I wish the 98 Honda Civic never got stolen

Default AWWWW...be careful. We're all Beetle lovers here! :)

I love my Beetle...
you can find the Bentley manuals on Ebay and Amazon. Depending on your beetle, you may be able to find an owner's manual as well.
Be careful about a link online for a pdf owner's manual...it's a scam that asks you to type in your cell phone no. Then the next month, hyyou get hit with text messages to your phone. knowing that it was a subscription service, i immediately contacted my cell phone company.
To date, I have found this Web site to be a great resource as well as fellow members...like Cori for example!

You will be happier with this, click here...

Much more conclusive and up to date than the printed manual.

My Daughter would kill me if I sold it. Lucky me, I get to show her how to wax and polish it this weekend. The forum is such a great tool. Keep on providing the useful knowledge for us rookies. Lets hear some shout outs for AZ
