Any codes? Sounds like there could be an under/overboost situation that is triggering limp mode. I don't know a lot about these engines/turbos...so that is the best I've got right now.
When the power drops, shut down the car and then restart and see if power returns. If so, it is definitely limp mode. Talk to your tuner and also look into doing some logs with VCDS. MAP requested, MAP actual, MAF requested, MAF actual should tell you a lot about how things are running.

Contact your unitronic guy.
Something may not be working well with your system. Maybe that wasn't an APH program he put on. Your turbo is different from every other 1.8t out there. DZLBUG hit it on the head though. FWIW I had the same general issues with Upsolute before. It would eventually go into a soft limp mode. There would be no CEL, but I'd be limited to 5psi. Another way to check, is to pull off the road. Stop the car shut it down for 10-15 long seconds. Then start up and go see how it performs. You may feel all that power come back. If so, it's the same soft-limp problem I had. "Negative Boost Deviation" was the scourge hounding me. But it was different people and different situation; I hope yours is solved quickly and cleanly. Ask the tuner what he knows about your motor, the injector size, and the turbo model. And how it compares with other 1.8t's. |
