We are also getting a flashing oil light. It will only do it once or twice in a day. The car will be driving perfect and as you come up to a stop the oil light will flash and beep three times. It only does this when the rpms are low, so If put in nuetral and reved a little, the light will go off, btu come back on after the rpms drop for a bit. I read that this could be linked to the coolant sensor malfunction?? What else should I be conserned with checking???

Blue light coming back on means you need a Coolant Temp sensor. You can buy them at Advance Autoparts for $9.99 WITH the Oring on them. Easy to change. Its MUCH easier if you take the airbox out when you do it. I'd also recommend you visit a Vw Dealership and order a retaining clip for it too. Its $.56. I BET you will somehow manage to lose yours. I was REALLY careful but it fell somewhere into the dark spaces in the engine bay. I was not about to dig around in there for a $.56 piece of plastic.
Red Oil light means pressure issues. What you should do ASAP is get an oil change. BUT, after the oil is drained, you will need to take the oil pan off and clean the filter screens in there. It MOST likely will be all kinds of gunked up because somewhere along the line synthetic oil was not used. Afterwards, replace with SYNTHETIC OIL that meets the Vw 505.1 requirements. You can probablly get this done in one sitting, but if its bad like was, you may need to do it multiple times. I didn't know this and i went through 3 oil changes in the month of November of 2009.
If you do not clean the screens and you just change the oil, the light will be back on in almost EXACTLY 1,000 miles and you will need to do what is mentioned in the previous paragraph.
Finally, Advance Autoparts is having a killer sale on oil and filters lately, you may want to go grab a few quarts and filters.
Here is a link to their Oil Specials. Again, make sure you get synthetic.
