Default New Diverter Valve, Thanks!

I just wanted to say for the record that this forum rocks! I followed evryone's advice and put the "710N" diverter valve on since my old one was whack, and man what a difference! New beetle dot org is the best!!!!

Have you changed your fuel filter yet. If it is 4-5 years old it should be changed you won't believe the difference.

Nope! Where's it located? Approximately how much for a new one?I put in a K&N today, which helped out a bit, now I just need to remove the snowbox.

CAI Has actually been shown to have little positive effect on the 1.8T in our cars with the exception of a couple (i.e. Modshack), the CAI would have to truly be a cold air intake with the filter inlet outside of the engine compartment to avoid heatsoak.

Did you notice an increase in fuel economy after you replaced the DV?

K&N is overated and will blow your MAF... Our OEM boxes are rated very high in HP numbers.. and there is very little proof that a K&N is better than a OEM paper filter. Stick with paper and you'll be happy.

K&N blowing MAFs is the biggest wives tale out there. A tiny bit of oil from the filter will not and cannot burn out your MAF. What made MAFs go was poor build quality. VW admitted it themselves. I blew 2 MAFs then got my K&N Filter... havent had a problem since. Guess I finally got a good MAF.

According to a blurb I read on the Neuspeed Website, Bosch admitted that they had but a large number of defective MAF's out there. I'm not sure if ours is a Bosch unit though.

I never had a problem with missing/cutting out until I changed my plugs. I got a "cylinder #1 misfire" CEL and replaced the #1 coilpack and it ran great for about 200 miles than went all crappy again...

I, too, think K&N filters are over-rated. I have never noticed any increase in power or fuel economy when I ran them on my Mustang GT or the SVT Contour. In fact, the SVT eventually threw a CEL on the MAF. Seems that because the filter was so close to the MAF it coated the sensor element with oil. If that happens to you, remove it and clean it with electronics cleaner (must be non-residue) and switch to paper filter. Drove me mad until someone on a Contour site pointed out the folly of K&N use with those cars. I think the same applies to the NB.

yea you can use a K&N drop in and smooth out the inside of the air box. That is prolly the most efficent thing you can do. if you just want to throw a cone on there and listen to your DV too im sure you will notice littel to no difference. Im turboing my 2.0 and i will be opting for the cone.

CRC actually makes a MAF cleaner in an aerosol can, I found mine at NAPA.
