Edit: Just googled Ohio VW Forum and found here: OhioVW
Might want to check there for a good shop.
Plus there are also Vw/Audi/Porsche tuning shops. The other 2 places where i can take my car are more known for being performance companies, but they do excellent work when it come to maintenance too. Just some more food for thought.

You're welcome! I certainly understand the value of having a local VW community around. Its a great resource. Because my local forums, I personally know 3 people who between them own 2 local shops. And there are 2 other shops who are also a part of the forums too.

Oh, and Fl_Bug, when I say shop, I mean mechanic type shop as well as a tuning shop. Tuning shops usually do mechanic work as well. The one owner of a local shop is a tuning shop. He actually does custom tunes, which is awesome. And he's a great guy to have around the community. The shop I go to is kinda both I guess. They do primarily mechanic type stuff, but they are a Unitronic and Revo dealer, and do some big performance builds. I think the shops that can handle the big stuff are the ones you want to go to. If they can handle cars putting down 400hp or more, then they can certainly handle some stock VWs

So I got the bug to a shop, she's going again today for a final diagnosis but the mechanic says the oil is too heavy which is causing the putting noise when idling and the only thing coming up is my O2 sensor. Also thinks my turbo is fine. Any thoughts? I'm half tempted to go with him because its a bajillion times cheaper than replacing the turbo and if thats all it is I can avoid a super expensive fix.

Ask him what he means by "too heavy" if you haven't already.
