Lightbulb Brake Pad Indicator

after doing some research i found that the (((O))) dotted orange circle in the lower right hand corner of my dash is the brake pad indicator light... meaning i need to get new pads.

Question, about how much is left on the pads when that light comes on? is it a you need to change these today, or a you need to change these as soon as possible light?

just curious because i would assume the light gives you some time to get new pads on.

thanks in advance.

Depends on your driving style and conditions. I got 20k miles on my pads after the light came on before they got too thin. So for me its way too early. As a result, I turned that feature off with VCDS.

YMMV.

As mentioned above, it will have quite a bit to do with driving conditions, etc... also, there is not typically enough room left on rotors to have them "turned", so the rotors should be replaced with the pads anyhow. If you start hearing a metal to metal sound when braking, it is likely the backing plate hitting the rotor.

We do have a selection of rotors and pads avialable when the time comes to have things replaced that can be found here on the website for 1.8T models:

Volkswagen New Beetle 1.8T > Braking > OEM

The RPS Kits are usually the best deal as they include rotors, pads and sensors with free shipping to the lower 48.
