Ummm, take it to a muffler shop and have then have them check it out for you? You may need to replace some parts of the exhaust; I'm sure once they cut into the problem area; the issue will be plain to see, what is going on... keep us informed on your repair! Good luck!

My first guess is that the material inside the converter is breaking apart, That used to be a big problem when converters first came out. The roundness would be due to the exhaust gases blowing by eroding the material.
