hey guys i just got a 2001 new beetle 1.8 turbo and when u press the pedal it would rev. but most of the time u got to pump the pedal to get tit to rev then hold it at a rpm and it will stay there. but if u press it farther or let off it wont respond. it was throwing a cam sensor on the cel i replaced that put it didnt fix it.

Humor me... clamp off the return line from the fuel rail and see if then you can rev the engine normally.
Also, if have a dealer level scan tool like VCDS, scan the ECM and go into Measuring Blocks, group 006 and see what field #4 is. I'm suspecting that maybe your MAF could be the problem.
