The drivability answer is maybe. here is why.

How far and how fast each day.The steering ability and alignment is effected.

How long until it can be repaired.days weeks month? the sooner the better. The steel rod may have micro cracks in it.Which can propigate due to the steering being used and cause a sudden complete break of the part with loss of steering control and you crashing. and that my friend would be really bad.

Sorry to be the bearer of less than good news

Plus I sure hope to God, your not still running on the space saver wheel.
Thanks for the photo though
Please fix it before driving more than 10 miles.
One emergency stop and I can see it all going south

I'd only be using this to drive to work which is 10miles or less away from my house and I don't exceed 45MPH. Also, the drive to my work is basically a straight road, so minimal turning. Since I've noticed the difference I've started to be more conscientious of my driving e.g. like an elderly person.

As for when I'll be making the repair, it'll be within the next week hopefully. I've already ordered a temporary Tie-rod assembly (one that isn't from a top notch manufacture) until I can get a quality one ordered.

At least your news was OK news thanks!

Ditto to both of those posts! And from other threads I've read, the damage might not end there. I've read of people who ended up turning this type situation into their comprehensive insurance.

Sorry, just the messenger, but you need to know.

I had a similar experience, but it wasn't my gf driving, it was this "idiot" poster -
MORAV needs a little Take5 help!

Haven't even addressed it, other than two throw two 16s on there off my NBT and get it home, other vehicles, hasn't been a priority. Maybe a little afraid to look (lol).

WOW, Someone must have hit something pretty damn hard to bend that tie rod by that much. Here is a link to a complete Control arm/tie rod kit. Only 131 including tie rods, Control arms and ball joints. Not a bad bargain. If you have a garage you can probably do it yourself pretty easily. Just need to get an alignment after you are all done but it look like your alignment is shot anyways

I personally would not drive it like that. Who knows what else was knocked out of place and once that tie rod goes you will loose all control and could cause a very major accident endangering not only yourself but others as well.

..and just about as safe as one. Glad you ordered the part but no matter how straight that road when that tie rod goes at 45mph or even at 30mph you will be all over that road possibly crossing the other lane and causing a very serious crash. I would see if you could maybe borrow a friends car. Actually, are you insured? Most insurance companies will give you a rental car until your car is fixed. I would put a claim into your insurance. That's what they are there for. Depends of course on the type of coverage and deductible. I always have full coverage on my cars no matter how old and never higher than a 100 Dollar deductible. Been with Statefarm for 30+ years now and for 2 cars and a Motorcycle I am paying less than a 100 bucks a month

Ditto, whether you have full coverage, liability and collison, or just liability, most policies are written with comprehensive. Comprehensive is just that "comprehensive" - deer strikes, a tree falling on your vehicle when parked, etc. I can't imagine opting out of this when deleting collison as the cost is so low.
What was it exactly that did this, curb, pothole, what? Some cities actually assume responsibilty and will pay for damages caused by potholes - TRUE STORY!

Very TRUE. They just had a story on the news about Potholes and the city paying out more claims this year than any other year previously. With the kind of weather we are having with ice and snow and heavy rains. Those potholes are popping all over the place and on city streets the city is responsible and if you have insurance or not. A lot of cities do process these claims and will make good on them.

I'm glad you confirmed that, and for a different city, because I know many would read that and be non-believers and/or think I was blowing smoke up their arse!

Default Ouch!

Wow, that is bad! This will throw off your alignment and ruin a tire! I wouldn't run it! Get that piece fixed, and get a new alignment immediately. If you are hard on cash, try using a junk yard or ebay has them at a fair price. They are not that hard to replace if you plan on doing it yourself.

Nice and shiny new tie rod! Did you check your Lower Control Arm bushings while you were in there? The doughnut shaped one usually fails and you can replace it with the solid rubber TT bushing. When the weather gets a little better and I have some extra cash I will try and replace my LCAs, tie rods and Ball joints.
Again, Good JOB!
Have a great weekend!
