Merry Christmas to you as well!
I don't know about Lucas oil so I don't know if it would be sufficient to act as an assembly lube. Liquid Moly Made in Germany is pretty good stuff. Volkswagen Golf IV 1.8T > Search > LM3010 > ES#3317 Assembly Lube - LM3010 For use in assembling all VW engines, Gas or Diesel. This product is a must when assembling any VW engine, use it on Bearings, Journals, Bushings, and wherever metal comes in contact with metal. It helps prevent damage from occuring on initial startup. Royal Purple and Amsoil and even Permatex make Assembly lube as well. Royal Purple Assembly Lube For Break in Oil I would just use Mobil One 0W40 European formula or perhaps Castrol 0W30 Both are 501,502 and 505 VW certified. Good Luck to you and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. |

I would use an assembly lube it stays put better than oil for first start up. Also when I had a motor rebuilt they did not use synthetic for break in.
1. Its to good and the rings won't seat correctly. 2. Its expensive as the oil was replaced in 500 miles (with synthetic) and I mean 500 miles not 501. Good luck on the rebuild |
