Red face Can I use carb cleaner to clean O2 sensor?

I bought used O2 sensors, I was told to clean them with carb cleaner, however, Haynes says do not do it.
I want to know if anyone has cleaned them this way. I would hate to break them before I can use them...
Thanks,

idk where you guys get your parts from but o2 sensors at a local auto parts store are 140-160$ but you can also get a do it yourself o2 sensor for 50-60$ but you hafto wire it up..

Plenty of VW parts suppliers online that sell O2 sensors for under $100.

To my knowledge O2 Sensors are one time use and cannot be cleaned. Any cleaning compound fouls it as it burns off.

You can get them from GermanAutoParts.com for $79.50/front and $93.75/rear.
