Air Filter

I'm trying to figure out how to change the air filter in my new 2000 bug. I have the air filter already but i really dont want to take it to the dealership. I just need to know if i need to take the hose off as well as the cover. I'm sure this is a pretty obvious question but i dont want to do anything stupid. thanks guys.

Disconnect the mass air flow sensor.
Squeeze the hose clamp on the MAF to inlet hose, disconnect the inlet hose from the MAF.
Disconnect the hose from the air box to the air pump. Squeeze the ring and pull it away basically.
Disconnect the MAF connector harness.
Remove the two screws from the rear of the air box holding the lid on.
Lift the lid, remove the old filter, put in a new one.
