Default gas tank box frozen shut cant put gas in.

my gas tank box is frozen shut . when i tried to go put gas in today. some idiot told me to use a key to try to open it . that chipped off some paint around the sides of the edges. ugh.. how do i get it to open? i dont have a garage. i live in minnesota. we just had an ice /snow storm. i just got to the red line of getting low on gas.Where is the lever inside the trunk to open the gas tank?
ok, I got it open!! yaah. it was just frozen!

Did you try pouring some hot water over the door? Only other option is to activate the latch from inside the trunk by removing the interior trunk liner on that side.

You mean the cover over your Gas cap? Is the top iced up? If not it could be your switch or the release mechanism.

Use the manual release inside the trunk; passenger side. Look near the trunk light and you will see a round cap or hole (size of a softball) if the cap has already been removed.

There is a padded cable in there, pull it gently and the fuel door lock will release; the fuel door should pop open, if not pull and hold the cable, then open the door with your other hand.

This thread may be of some help.
