Default Gandalf laid down

On the drive home for lunch Friday, Gandalf developed a horrible misfire. Just ran a scan and got P0300 and P0301. Looks like it's time to go get the recall on the coil packs done. I guess I've been lucky. I've had AAA for a long time and this will be my first tow. Wish me luck. I really don't look forward to dealing with our local "service" department.

Coil packs shouldn't be too much of a hassle for your "service" department to take care of. Good Luck John!

When I first saw the title, I thought there was something major happening.... started freaking out. Glad to hear that the ol boy is okay, and the repair isn't catastrophic.

Keep us posted on Gandalf's progress- hope He comes home soon.

I know I was thinking the same thing.
Glad it's nothing major.

When my 2002 Turbo S, Jewel, sputtered home, she was towed in right away, and we got her back the same afternoon. I hope it's a quick stay for Gandolf.

Hey John! Just curious, do you go to the Tulsa VW dealership? If you do, you can always shoot me a PM or text because the parts manager is a good friend of mine and he'll make sure your car is taken care of right. Wes is a great guy, one of my favorite people on the face of this earth. Now, the rest of the service department.. not so much.. lol but the parts guys are great.

Hi Randi! Yes, we do go to the Tulsa dealership. That's where we got Lily. We take Lily there for the regular service so we can keep the warranty active. I have never had to take Gandalf in for anything yet. I've been dealing with them for 4 years or so and I never seem to leave there with a smile on my face. I hope this goes well.

Went by for a chat with the service guys and they told me they could fix it today or tomorrow. Was a little late in the day for calling the tow truck so I'm going to get a fresh start at it in the morning and hope to have him hummin' again by lunchtime.

We took him in this morning and they fixed him up and they even gave him a bath (he definitely needed one). All is well!

I take it yall are from OK? I'm in Fort Smith. I work at a GM dealership, but I need a reliable VW dealership and I know the one at the Fort would fall under the stealship category. I wonder which would he better for me, Tulsa or Northwest Arkansas.

I've been to Ft Smith and even went over the bridge so I could say I was on Oklahoma once

Great dry run BBQ place in the area, believe the owner has a world BBQ title to his name.

Saw the Barber Shop where Elvis got his hair cut as well.

Small world.

I am actually from Van Buren, AR. I just saw them talking about Tulsa and it piqued my interest.

I can say the Tulsa service department has improved recently. They treated me very well today. My job was covered by a recall so there was no charge. I also mentioned that my seat latch was jammed and they fixed that as well for no charge. They did good so today I would recommend the Tulsa VW to anyone in the area. The dealership has changed hands 3 times in the last 4 years so you never know. Ask me again after my next visit.
