Default Blue coolant light flashing?

Hey everyone..

A few days ago I was driving my 1.8T Y2K Bug and suddenly I saw the blue coolant light temp flashing for maybe a minute then it turned off. What does this mean? I saw my coolant level and it's good.

Also sometimes I drive and the engine is well warmed up but sometimes the blue light will come on steady for no reason and then maybe turn off within 5 mins.

Doesn't seem like a huge problem but I would just like to know if it's something serious or not.. thx.

If it comes on blue after the engine is well warmed up, it could possibly be a bad temp sensor. Around $6 for a new sensor.

If it is only solid blue when you are first driving the car, thats fine.

Flashing or Red is not good and needs to be looked at (at least thats what my manual said)

hope that helps

Yes, when i first drive it's solid blue so I know that that's normal. But then after a while it comes on again and turns off. But i only saw it flash about two times for about 1 minute and stop.

I looked at the manual as well and it said it might be an electrical problem? I dunno. Maybe it is a bad temp sensor.

Do a search for green temperature sensor and you will find buchu posts telling you how to fix it. Check your coolant level too...if it is not too low you can add some distilled water to it.

Default Temperature Light Flashing

Did you solve your problem with the blue temperature light flashing? I am having the same problem with the red temperature light. It goes on for about a minute and then goes off. The dealership can not find a problem and of course, it doesn't flash for them. It sounds like a sensor problem but don't really know. The instrument cluster was changed two days after I took delivery, as the car wouldn't start (not recognizing the key) and had to be towed.

Have you checked your coolant level?
