Default CEL and other warning lights

I have become accustomed to my CEL light being on. I'm most certain that it is a screwed up glow plug because that is one of the faults my "Cheapo" scanneer won't read. The car runs like a scalded cat so I'm not too concerned with the light at this time.
What I would like to know is if it is normal for the light not to light until about 2 minutes after the engine has been running? Also, do the other warning lights do the same? That is, if there has been a malfunction somewhere.

We just had the CEL for the glowplugs too. Get a set of 4 new ones for $60 and replace all 4 and you will not have any problem.

And yes, the light resets each time when you start it up, sometimes taking a few moments to come back on.

Thank you sir. When I replaced the first glow plug, I was advised to replace all of them but I was financially embarrassed at the time and thought I could get by with just the bad one. I'll just have to bite the bullet and get the foour new ones.

You might want to also invest in a KEY-USB from Ross Tech so you can scan the car and see what is going on.

It might be a glow plug issue... it might not.

IMHO, glow plugs should always be replaced in matching sets. There are two different vendors of glow plugs, Beru and Bosch. One of them is cheaper than the other... go with the cheaper set.
