Question Engine cover

Hi all,

My friend who helps me with the vag-com has a 04 Jetta. His engine cover has foam attached to the bottom, so that when its on it dampens the noise significantly. I do not have any foam attached to my cover. Do any of the newer PD beetles have this foam under there engine covers? If so, can I put a PD engine cover on mine? I was thinking of finding some foam and gluing it to my engine cover. Has anyone done this?

Thanks

I've got an '04 PD. It has foam under the engine cover but it's not attached to the cover. It's a shaped ring that simply rests on top of the engine. The cover holds the foam in place.

Thats right, my friend also had that ring. I am pretty sure there was a larger piece of foam also ether attached or went ontop. Could some other PDs post what they have.

I want to make this as my wife drive the NB mostly and complains that going through drive throughs her orders can not be heard.

Thanks

Come to think of it there might be a bit of foam on the underside of the engine cover. I'll check tonight. I can post pics if you want.

Thanks!

Pics would be great. It sounds like the same setup as the Jetta.

If your refering to the plastic cover that rests ontop of the engine with the vw logo on it..... just toss the whole thing.
Its provides no noticable sound reduction at all and hinders perfoming any maint on the engine. Also why would you want to hide your engine?
