Question airbox cover bolts

Hi Bug owners,

Have any of you got an alternative fastener for putting the airbox cover back on? What I've found is that the 2 philips head bolts are in such an awkward spot that the heads like to strip. I have one that I definitely need to replace.
I've changed the airfilter twice, and I almost could not get the cover off due to that bolt. I wished they had employed speed clips like every other car manufacturer.

If no alternative, does anyone know of an after market place to buy them?
The one dealer I spoke with this morning, said the bolt wasn't sold separately.
I'm going to try some more dealers and then some of the preferred vendors.

I think the same thing every time I replace mine. I'm just glad its not more often than 20K miles.

Good luck. I don't think you'll have much chance out there.

But any clamp should work.

The screws; I just don't torque down very tight; and I don't remove them. They're in there in such a way you just have to loosen them and they're off; don't have to physically remove the screw from the lid.

You can go to just about any hardware store and find replacements for the screws... But they will be threaded all the way to the top... If you pull the upper cover assembly (sorry, I dont know what its called) that the wipers go thru, you can get at those screws much more easily...
