Thumbs up tip to make fuel filter change easier

Hey fellow TDI buggers,

I have a tip when you're replacing your fuel filter on your ALH motor NB ('98- '03 ).

I recommend you follow MOGolf's how-to video on www.tdiclub.com, to the "T". Forget about pouring fuel into the top to prime. This works like crap for me.
Pay particular attention to clamping off the 2 fuel lines: fuel-supply-from-tank and fuel-supply-to-injection pump.
Any air sucked back into the pump and fuel injection lines will result in serious hard starting.
Get the Mityvac hand vacuum pump to attach to the fuel-to-IP fitting of the new filter, just like MOGolf does in the video.

good luck

Don't forget about 04-06.5 PD's same filter setup..

I would also like to add a trick at getting the hoses off. Make sure that the hoses spin on the filter barbs prior to pulling and tugging. I managed to rip a small hole in one of my hoses trying to pull it off without unseating it first. Course I didn't notice till after it leaked all over the place

VW actually wants $150 bucks for the pair of form fitted fuel lines that go from the filter to the rails on the PD... Puuuulease! mine are just a half inch shorter now.
