Cool

Squealing at start-up generally involves lack of lubrication at one of the pulleys. It may not be a dearth of lube so much as a gap where overnight moisture may have been present. My thought would be to use a Water-Displacing agent such as a little WD-40 locally (try not to get it all over the place) and see if that silences that annoying squeal for you...

Another possibility could be the A/C clutch is beginning to show signs of wear. In this event the squealing may become more prolonged as the aging process continues...

Wierd, because I'm getting the SAME sound! It seemed to stop right after my last oil change and started up again recently. So I'll check the things you guys suggested.....and let you know if I get if fixed. If you find out for sure, please post, that would help A LOT!

There's a notorious kind of noise with the TDIs- a metallicy, chirping/squealing belt noise that comes from the front passenger side of the engine bay. The noise goes away when the engine warms up.
There's a lot of discussion on it at tdiclub.com
Mine was a failing timing belt tensioner. Others have found it to be serpentine belt pulleys. Some have found it to be timing belt chafing. You have to localize it a little better.
Read up on it. Did the people who did your timing belt replace all rollers, waterpump and tensioner?
If you're confident TB job was done 100%, it's probably something more benign about the TB belt or it's something within the serpentine belt path most likely.
