Ok, I did this about 6 weeks ago and didn't take any pictures so I'll do my best to explain in words.
1. Remove the center dash "hump" by pushing with both hands towards the windshield. I had to use two flat screwdrivers to apply pressure to the sides of the cover (next to the textured part of the dash) to get it to move. I used a gentle pressure and tried to push evenly. Eventually it came free and I lifted it out of the way.

2. Next you will have to remove the right side cover by un-screwing the two torx screws in the center of the dash then pull the plastic cover towards the center of the car. I used a gentle rocking from front to back. Note: You will need to remove the speaker connection to get the panel out of the way.

3. Then unscrew the torx screws (6-8...can't remember exact count) on the plastic cover that was under the plastic cover. You'll know what I'm talking about when you get to this point. Once you remove all those screws you can pull that panel out and finally see the pollen filter.

4. You will then have to losten the polen filter retaining bracket...which is pretty intuitive...and pull the filter out. There was lots of junk in the filter box so I vacuumed everything out before replacing the filter. You can now install the new filter and reverse the entire process.

Now you have clean fresh air inside your NB. Good luck.

This whole process took me about 30 minutes and sounds more complicated than it is.

Red face Plain talk is much appreciated!!

Thank you so much for a easy to follow guide on the replacement of the pollen filter!! I googled and became even more confused than my brief chat with the dealer.

I thought the Bentley was pretty good on this.
For anyone doing this, just watch your torx head screws. There are a number of them around the plenum chamber covers. It's easy to drop them down into the plenum or somewhere else.
In fact, I think Beetles love to eat important hardware.
