Default Best place to jack New Beetle up for Jack Points

I want to use my better floor jack to swap tires rather than the little flimsy emergency jack provided by VW. Where is the safest and best place to place the jack under so I can jack up the New Beetle and swap tires?

Thanks

tj

There are dimples on the running board. These are the jack up points.

Careful - you could damage the pinch weld if you use a floor jack on the dimple locations. IIRC there's already a thread for alternate jack points.

Not the running boards. Those are alot softer than they look.

The dimples show the front-to-rear location, but the jack point is about 6-8" inside of that.

There's some grommet holes that I use, and realy I've been wandering around as my 'jack points' are started to get well chewed over time.

Sorry, I don't have a pic. But I'd say aim for 'just around' the sizable grommet locations, indicated by the dimples.

I guess I should have elaborated. I know that the jack points are farther under the car, back from those dimples. Sorry....

I usually put a 2x6 around 3 ft long just inside the weld and use the floor jack to lift the front and rear at the same time.

I just bench press mine up, then with one hand hold the car and with the other hand slide jack stands underneath.

Jacks are for wimps.

One suggestion is to lift where the engine meets the tranny for lifting the front up at one point.

Says to use a block of wood to protect the metal surfaces.

Personally I like to lift vehicles at a strong point on the suspension. Heck, it already has the weight of the vehicle on it so it must be strong enought to lift it a few inches.

This way you don't have to lift a vehicle any higher than you need to since the wheel won't drop. Just my $.02
